Light Talk with The Lumen Brothers

LIGHT TALK is a place where lighting designers can feel free to express what really annoys them about the industry, lighting education, and the art of stage lighting design. Inspired by the beloved NPR radio show, "CAR TALK", LIGHT TALK features the musings and rantings of David Jacques, Stan Kaye, and Steve Woods. These three designers have been lighting the stages of the world for many, many decades. Burnt out and abused by the industry and the insanity of the profession, Stan, Steve, and David have escaped to the hallowed halls of academia where they wildly and fearlessly pontificate to innocent students of the art. LIGHT TALK takes these rantings to the world. Look for our weekly Pod Cast discussing the issues of our time. Nothing is Taboo, Nothing is Sacred, and very little makes sense. Welcome to LIGHT TALK!

As many of you know, we record this show earlier in the week. Yesterday we received word that Howell Binkley passed away. His beautiful art has been seen all over the world on countless live productions... and of course, his magnificent and inspiring design for Hamilton has, and will be seen by millions. We send our condolences to his family and all his friends in the theatre and dance communities. Although we will greatly miss his humanity, his beautiful art will live on to inspire future generations of lighting desingers. Thank you, Howell.

In this episode of LIGHT TALK, the Lumen Brothers discuss everything from Cliff Driving to Al, the LD at Home Depot.

Join David, Stan, and Steve as they pontificate about: David's Road Trip; Letters to Light Talk Central; Truss spots; FOH Mover techniques; Infra-red cameras; Hanging boards and tapes; Staying in shape; Landscape lighting; Shiner Bock lights; Shooting lawn fixtures with shotguns; Poor outdoor wiring; and Where to hang a 6-inch Fresnel.

Nothing is Taboo, Nothing is Sacred, and Very Little Makes Sense.
